Dust/Opacity Monitors

Dust/Opacity Monitors

Pentol offers different dust monitors coming from different manufacturers:

  •  Codel DCEM2100 - for emission monitoring systems and process applications; The DCEM2100 provide a continuous measurement of opacity or dust concentration in flue gases by continuously measuring the transmissivity of visible light across a process duct or stack. Its dual-pass optical arrangement is based on twin transmissometers measuring in opposing directions through the same section of the gas stream, providing not only an accurate average of the dust loading, but also providing a unique dynamic assessment of any misalignment errors due to stack movement. The measurement of opacity or particulate (dust) emissions from a process stack by measuring changes in optical transmission is simple in concept, but the monitor must be insensitive to any other factors that degrade the optical transmission such as contamination of optical surfaces or gross misalignment.

An in-situ scattered light dust monitor:

  • Durag D-R 808 (with QAL1 Certificate) - for emission monitoring systems and process applications. Reliable monitoring of low to medium concentrations. For monitoring very low concentrations the forward scattering principle is ideally suited. Here, the modulated light of a laser diode penetrates the measuring volume in the flue duct. A highly sensitive detector records the light scattered by the dust particles in a forward direction. The measured scattered light is directly proportional to the dust concentration. Due to the simplified, advanced design, the D-R 808 is unmatched in its ease of maintencance. There is no need to remove the device from the stack for the linearity check with optical filters.

An extractive scattered light dust monitor:

  • Dr. Foedisch PFM 06 ED (with QAL1 Certificate) – for emission monitoring systems and process applications. Used for the continuous extractive measurement of dust contents in wet and sticky exhaust gases (eg. behind the FGD absorber). Benefits:  relatively small required space • compact device → only 1 sample fitting with integrated or separated return fitting necessary • display option in mg/m³ by input of calibration parameters • isokinetic gas sampling possible
